The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has issued its first stablecoin issuer licenses, with a Standard Chartered joint venture and HSBC among the recipients. Licensed institutions must complete preparatory work such as system testing, with compliant stablecoins expected to launch successively from mid-year to the second half of this year, marking a new phase in Hong Kong's stablecoin regulation.
